Bank Pekao (full name - Bank Polska Kasa Opieki Spółka Akcyjna) is a commercial bank of Poland. In 2011, the bank ranked 2nd in terms of assets among Polish banks. Since 1999, it has been a member of the UniCredit banking group. The bank was founded on March 17, 1929. The bank was established to serve Polish immigrants. On October 29 of the same year, the District Court in Warsaw brought Pekao Bank to the register of commercial organizations. The shareholders of the bank were: Pocztowa Kasa Oszczędności, Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego and Państwowy Bank Rolny. Before the Second World War, the bank opened branches in France, Argentina, Tel Aviv and the United States. During the war years, the bank did not incur significant material losses
