Bank history

HSBC Group was founded in Hong Kong in 1865 as "Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Ltd". Republic National Bank of New York (Suisse) SA was founded on February 1, 1988. In 1996, it acquired Banque Unigestion SA (Geneva). On January 5, 2000, the bank changed its name into HSBC Republic Bank (Suisse) SA. On April 11, 2001, HSBC Bank (Suisse) SA undertook all the assets and debts of HSBC Republic Bank (Suisse) SA and changed its name into HSBC Republic Bank (Suisse) SA. At the same time, former HSBC Republic Bank (Suisse) SA changed its name into HSBC Bank (Suisse) SA and started liquidation process. The Bank has more than 80 offices in 36 countries in Europe, Asia-Pacific region, the USA, on the Middle East and in Africa
